What is The Teddy Bear Project?

The Teddy Bear Project gives teddy bears and other plush toys to abused, neglected, abandoned and homeless children between the ages of less than one-year (infant) to teens up to the age of 18 in an effort to improve their quality of life by providing them with comfort, consolation and healing during times of major stress, distress and sadness. The focus of the Teddy Bear Project is to help these children by providing understanding, caring, nurturing and empathic support.

Who Do We Serve?

Our clients / customers / who we serve are children ranging in age from infant to age 18 who are highly susceptible to abuse, abandonment, neglect and homelessness due to their dependency on their families, extended families, foster families, the court system, etc. The Teddy Bear Project strives to let these children know how important and valuable they are, and that we are here to help them recover during their times of intense stress, loss and grief.

Volunteers

Our volunteers are individuals who have experienced or witnessed children in dire situations or circumstances. They are also people who may not have experienced this directly, but who want to make a difference in the lives of the children who have. Our volunteers are motivated to make a difference in the lives of these children by donating teddy bears, making teddy bears, serving as strategic drop off locations, or donating their time to pick up and deliver teddy bears and other plush animals.

Contributors & Stakeholders

Our contributors are individuals, families, companies, businesses, associations and organizations who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for children who have so little, yet have suffered so much during their short lifetimes. Among these contributors and stakeholders are The Sunshine Lady Foundation, The Women’s Independent Scholarship Program, Inc., GEM Conferences, LLC, FeatherLeaf Designs, Steinway Sarasota/Pritchard’s Pianos, and Winey Bears.

With a donation of $60 or more, you will receive a Teddy Bear Making Kit!

Each kit includes EVERYTHING necessary to make one articulated teddy bear: pins, needles, thread, stuffing, (arms, legs and neck) joints, eyes, nose, faux fur (for body, arms, legs, and head), faux suede for customized paws; patterns and detailed assembly instructions.

Teddy Bears are like peanuts, you cannot have just one, so the pattern and detailed instructions we provide in our kits will allow you to continue to make as many teddy bears as you wish!

To make a donation, choose your options below and we will ship a kit out to all donations $60 or more. Your donation will also help us purchase a teddy bear for a child we serve.

Thank you!
The Teddy Bear Project

By 2022, we are projecting to add at least 1200 more teddy bears to the number that we are currently giving to abused, neglected, abandoned and homeless children. Thank you for helping to fund our vision to provide more than 600 children annually with an unlimited supply of teddy bear hugs and snuggles.
